“The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s Premier Orchestral Institute is an intensive summer program for string players from beginner to advanced levels.
Orchestral playing is at the core of our program. Students go through all aspects of the orchestral experience (audition, sectionals, full rehearsals, and concerts) under the leadership of world-class musicians in a nurturing and exciting learning environment.
Additionally, all POI students have access to master classes, chamber music, community outreach concerts and masterful performances by the POI faculty.
At POI we place great value on the social experience that comes with learning side-by-side with fellow students and instructors from all over the world. Our musicians expand their personal and professional networks and form friendships that stand the test of time and distance.
Also, we're thrilled to be partnering again with Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, where we will host most of our activities.
